German Research Foundation (DFG)

The German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft, DFG) is a central, self-governing research funding organisation that promotes research at universities and other publicly financed research institutions in Germany. The DFG serves all branches of science and the humanities by funding research projects and facilitating cooperation among researchers. The cornerstones of the DFG funding are scientific excellence, advancing the next generation of scientists, multidisciplinarity and international collaboration. Within the framework of the funding, individual research-projects as well as cooperative projects, recognized outstanding research accomplishments and the creation of scientific infrastructure and networks are all supported.
