Fritz Thyssen Foundation

The Fritz Thyssen Foundation (Fritz Thyssen Stiftung), a private foundation for the promotion of science, was founded in 1959 by Amélie Thyssen and her daughter Anita Zichy-Thyssen in memory of August and Fritz Thyssen. The sole purpose of the Foundation is the direct support of research and scholarship in universities and research institutes, primarily in Germany, with special emphasis on the support of young scientists.

At the present time, the Foundation is concentrating its support on the priority program "Molecular Pathogenesis and Models of the Genesis of Disease", in line with the funding program ‘Medicine and Natural Science’. This program supports molecular-biological research into those diseases which are caused to a greater extent by genetic defects, or in which genes contribute to the development of complex illnesses. Preference in this program will be given to younger researchers with appropriate and relevant experience in this field of research.

All details relating to formal application criteria can be found on the Fritz Thyssen Foundation website.
